I sometimes struggle in between the bigger meals of the day and need a high fat snack with lots of protein. I always make sure I have eggs because they’re such a versatile ingredient and I use them for lots of recipes. BUT! I do get bored of them if I just boil or fry them so doing something simple like deviled eggs is an easy and relatively fast way to make them more exciting.
Messy or fancy deviled eggs, your choice
This classic deviled eggs recipe is what I make when I’m in a hurry and don’t have time to think of something fancy, but you can really get creative here and put different spices or even veggies like avocado into the mixture.
You can eat this as a snack, but remember that it’s high calorie food so don’t eat too many and eat some veggies along side it so you´ll feel full for a longer time.
When you’re keto adapted (your body is burning fat for fuel) deviled eggs are a really nice way to get that energy fix and keep hunger away until your next meal. But of course this is a great starter to a meal and absolutely a cool thing to bring to a party (don’t let it get warm) or serve when you have guests.
Usually I’m lazy (and greedy) and just scoop the yolk mixture into the whites but if you want to make a good impression and show off your cooking skills you can use a piping bag and add a garnish.
Deviled eggs tips & tricks
Tip: If you’re serving this at a party, try to keep the deviled eggs cool and make sure to make enough of them because in my experience they’re a little addictive and people go for seconds and thirds.
For something extra fancy, add a little piece of smoked salmon to each bite.
